The folks who warn about development near drinking water reservoirs sometimes are called alarmists and worry-warts. And it’s true that even after several sewage spills in the upper Falls Lake watershed, Raleigh will continue to draw water from the lake and process it for use by hundreds of thousands of people. Drink up!

Frustrated by sewage spills that dumped 60,000 gallons of waste into a Falls Lake tributary, Mayor Charles Meeker said Wednesday that the city should consider steps to hold the private operator responsible.
Meeker asked for more details on the extent of sewage spills involving operator Aqua N.C. since 2005, the effects of these spills on Falls Lake and an explanation of the rules that allowed a large sewer system to be installed near the lake.

The water meters were changed out and left hanging in the air for over the last two years uninsulated, which I have complained about to no avail. Not a lot of fun going out in 20 degree weather at 5am to unfreeze it, three different times.
